Laboratory Technician - Spain

Job description

Omniscope is a TechBio whose proprietary high throughput (1M cells/sample) single-cell TCR/BCR sequencing technology makes it possible to build a global biobank of our immune systems at unprecedented speed, serving as an unprecedented powerful platform for therapeutic discovery and preventive health.

The candidate will be part of the Omniscope Experimental group situated in Parc Científic of Barcelona. They will be involved in day-to-day laboratory work and responsible for sample preparation, including performing emerging sequencing protocols in a highly collaborative and international work environment.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Process human samples according to high throughput standard protocols
  • Isolate and prepare cell suspensions from tissues
  • Prepare sequencing libraries
  • Perform QC analyses
  • Process samples in a BSL2/BSL3 environment
  • Manage the storage and retrieval of biological samples in -80° and liquid nitrogen biobanks
  • Keep comprehensive laboratory work records/ reports
  • Accurately record work in an electronic lab management system (LIMs) according to SOPs
  • Track and maintain accurate inventory of reagents, consumables, and supplies
  • Perform routine maintenance on lab equipment and ensure calibration and functionality
  • Keep updated with the current literature

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences, Higher National Diploma (FP2) or equivalent qualifications demonstrating competence in molecular biology
  • Broad experience in molecular and cell biology techniques
  • Extensive experience in human cell sample processing and biobanking
  • Skilled in nucleic acid preparation and quality control
  • Experience with next-generation sequencing library preparation
  • Experience in cell/tissue culture
  • Broad experience in working in a BSL2/BSL3
  • Background in biology, molecular biology, genetics and immunology
  • Demonstrates knowledge of sequencing and single cell technologies and their applications
  • Proven ability to write experimental reports
  • Experience of laboratory health and safety regulations, including the use of risk assessments
  • Practical skills in Microsoft Office packages
